Alabama Mother Allegedly Murders Sleeping Husband While Five Children Were In The House

Authorities report that a woman from Alabama, Annie Huffstutler, allegedly shot her husband, Shawn Christian Watson, as he slept, with five children present in the residence. The motive for the tragic incident remains undisclosed. Just after 2:30 a.m. on June 14, deputies from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the couple’s home in Ariton, only to find Watson unresponsive; a coroner later declared him dead at the scene. While the children heard the gunfire, they did not witness the event, with one child subsequently contacting 911 for help. Sheriff Mason Bynum indicated that none of the children observed the alleged crime, emphasizing the family's tragic circumstances and the community’s support during this difficult time. Huffstutler has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond. The family has been directed to local social services for counseling as they navigate their grief.
