Shareef Abdur-Rahim serves as president of the G League, but one of the league’s fresh rookies has a different perspective on him. On Saturday, the reigning G League champion Stockton Kings selected Jabri Abdur-Rahim—the son of Shareef—utilizing the 29th pick in the inaugural round of the draft. Jabri previously showcased his talent with the Sacramento Kings during the NBA Summer League.Jabri Abdur-Rahim concluded his collegiate career at Providence, having spent three years at Georgia and one season at Virginia. The 6-foot-7 shooting guard accumulated an impressive average of 7.9 points across 123 collegiate appearances.Shareef Abdur-Rahim, a gold medalist from the 2000 Olympics and an NBA All-Star in 2002, amassed over 15,000 points throughout his 12-year career, averaging 18.1 points per contest. Since 2018, he has presided over the G League.Dillon Jones of Weber State emerged as the first overall pick, heading to the South Bay Lakers, while Jamal Mashburn Jr. was chosen eighth by the Westchester Knicks before his trade to the Grand Rapids Gold.
