By Stephany Taylor Advocates for Youth Education Advocates for Youth Education Inc. (AYE) held a dinner celebration on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Maketewah County Club to honor their scholarship recipients. Courtis Fuller, anchor and reporter with WLWT-TV5 and Hearst Television was the Master of Ceremonies.  Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, Vice Mayor of Cincinnati and a member of AYE, was the keynote speaker.  Kennedi Johnson, a former AYE Scholarship recipient, spoke to those assembled about “The College Experience.”  Everett Moore provided a musical interlude. AYE’s mission is to provide scholarships to high-achieving African American high school seniors.  AYE members donate money each year to provide these scholarships to students in the Cincinnati-area who have enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university. Fourteen seniors were awarded 2024 AYE Scholarships: Nadiyah Allen, a graduate of Taft High School, will attend the University of Cincinnati and study dentistry. KeAzia Anderson, a graduate of Purcell Marian High School will attend Berea College to pursue nursing. Sydney Boone, graduate of Woodward High School will attend the University of Cincinnati to study nursing.
