After finishing a distant third in Tuesday's Birmingham mayoral election, State Representative Juandalynn Givan concluded her campaign much like she commenced it: with relentless fervor. Although she did not address her supporters at a Watch Party at the 4 Seasons Sports Bar & Grill, she candidly expressed her thoughts to a Birmingham Times reporter afterwards."I've reiterated this: if Birmingham residents appreciate their current leadership, they will retain it come August 26," Givan stated. She lamented the city's apparent reluctance to accept female leadership, adding, "This indicates a profound issue." Givan noted the city's ongoing crime challenges and infrastructure issues, questioning what might change in the next four years. She faced significant challenges, particularly among women voters, who she described as "atrocious." Givan emphasized, "It’s a universal issue we've observed in various cities." Despite her defeat, she plans to run again for Alabama’s House of Representatives District 60 in 2026, asserting her commitment to public service.
