A dream year for Julien Alfred just keeps getting better. World Athletics on Monday confirmed the 23-year-old Olympic champion from Ciceron as one of the two finalists for Track Athlete Of The Year 2024.
The winner will be announced on December 1.
Alfred, the 100m champion at the Paris Olympics in August, made the final two out of six nominees, along with 400m hurdles World record holder, Sydney Levrone of the USA.
On the track, the Saint Lucian sprint sensation had also won 60m gold at the World Indoor Championships, and the 100m at the Wanda Diamond League Final.
Her run at Paris 2024, to which she also added silver in the 200m, placed her as one of the top 10 fastest women ever.
Off the track, Alfred has been celebrated with a four-day Homecoming in Saint Lucia. She was recognised by the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) as Female Sports Personality Of The Year. And just last week the Association Of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) named the former University of Texas star as the Best Female Athlete Of Paris 2024.
