Allegations of Racism: Lawsuit Claims Management Ignored Tenant's Assault and Harassment of Black Residents

The owner of a Washington, D.C. apartment building has agreed to pay $50,000 after failing to address severe harassment faced by two Black female tenants. This settlement, reached with the District, stems from incidents involving a white tenant’s violent and racist actions. Despite numerous reports, UDR took insufficient action against the offender, ultimately leading to serious legal repercussions. In addition to financial penalties, the company must implement reforms to prevent further discrimination and ensure tenant safety.
