ANALYSIS: Blacks for Biden-Harris sets up shop in Decatur

U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, joined U.S. Representative Nikema Williams and the 60th Mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, in the unveiling of Georgia’s second Black Voters for Biden-Harris campaign office. This location, in Decatur, is the northern Georgia outpost for the new outfit, designed to aggressively court and turn out African-Americans in November.
According to Pew Research, 92% of Black voters supported President Joe Biden in 2020. Also, Donald Trump won 6% of the African-American electorate in 2016. A Republican presidential candidate has not won more than 12% of the Black vote in nearly half a century. So, what’s the issue?
Trump has always worked to court Black voters. In 2019, the former president told a crowd of hundreds, “what the Hell do you have to lose?”
After being to pay more than $90 million for being liable of raping a journalist, Trump compared his legal troubles to Blacks, Trump said, “that’s why the Black people like me because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against.”
If Saturday’s press conference in Decatur is any indication, Representative Crockett has MAGA Republicans and the 34-time convicted felon in her scope.
