Angela Bassett has mystified audiences for generations with her amazing talent and classical beauty. When she was up for the Best Supporting Actress for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, at the 2023 Academy Awards, and didn’t win, needless to say everyone was disappointed. In a recent interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, the 65-year-old said that her twins joined in the sentiment and were “supremely disappointed” by her Oscar loss.

“I gotta tell you, I think there was a collective — I was really expecting you to win that Academy Award last year. And I’m sure I’m not alone,” Kelly Ripa said to the Black Panther star.
“So were my kids. They were. They just knew it, hands down,” replied Bassett.
Shortly after the Oscars loss, Bassett did receive The Academy Honorary Award in January of 2024 at the Governors Ball. The Academy Honorary Award is a prestigious award in Hollywood that was instituted in 1950 for the 23rd Academy Awards. The Academy Honorary Award is given annually by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
