The Nashville Coalition Against Domestic Violence is set to host the 21st annual “Meet Us at the Bridge” ceremony on Saturday, September 20. This solemn event pays tribute to victims of domestic violence while acknowledging those striving to eradicate it. It serves as the launch of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, featuring the poignant reading of names of twelve individuals lost to domestic violence in Nashville over the past year. Family members and friends will honor their memories by dropping purple roses from the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. Mayor Freddie O’Connell will attend, joined by advocates and community leaders. The coalition will award its annual MUATB Awards to individuals and organizations combating domestic violence, with recipients including the Mary Parrish Center and Detective Joshua Beauchesne. Taking place from 9 to 10 a.m. at the bridge, the event also emphasizes the urgent need for change in a state with troubling statistics regarding domestic violence. The coalition consists of numerous local agencies dedicated to preventing and addressing domestic abuse.
