An Indianapolis mother faces multiple felony charges after allegedly boarding a school bus with her children, where she assaulted an eighth grader, resulting in a broken nose. Prosecutor Ryan Mears proclaimed that the mother, Latea Hentz, was not only a key instigator but also actively participated in the violence. The incident, which occurred on March 6, was recorded by the bus's surveillance cameras. Hentz, 36, entered the bus accompanied by her 13-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter. When confronted by the bus driver about parental access, Hentz suggested contacting law enforcement. As her children began attacking the 14-year-old victim, Hentz encouraged their aggression, yelling, “beat his ass.” Following the melee, she threatened other students, exhibiting alarming behavior. Hentz faces charges including criminal confinement, battery resulting in moderate injury, intimidation, and criminal trespass. Her children also face undisclosed charges. Mears emphasized that parents must prioritize safety and resolution through proper channels rather than resorting to violence.
