The Birmingham Museum of Art (BMA) is set to unveil a contemporary exhibition titled "Go to the tree and get the pure sap and find out whether they were right" on August 9, featuring the collaborative works of Florida’s Antoine Williams and Tennessee’s Josiah Golson. This site-specific installation, part of BMA’s Wall to Wall series, highlights Black neurodiversity through an interactive, multi-media format, enriching the museum's lobby area. A reception and panel discussion will occur on August 7. Jade Powers, the Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art, notes that the artists’ work expands the discourse around inclusivity and accessibility in art and community settings. Williams' multidisciplinary practice merges cultural mythologies and critical Black studies, while Golson focuses on narratives pertaining to identity and advocacy through varied artistic expressions. The exhibition will feature significant installations, including "The Harvesters" and an interactive archive, inviting visitor engagement and fostering community dialogue.
