Beverly Henry Wheeler Receives National Award for Lifetime Achievement in College Admissions

Beverly Henry Wheeler, interim director of admission at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, has received the inaugural Beverly Henry Wheeler Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC). The new award recognizes outstanding long-term contributions to advancing equity, inclusion, and diversity in college admissions. Since 2016, Wheeler has served as regional director of admissions at Hendrix College, where she oversees recruitment for prospective students from the state of Texas. With over three decades of college admissions experience, Wheeler has served as president of the Texas Association for College Admissions Counseling, as well as the NACAC Board of Directors. For the past two years, she has been the faculty lead for Guiding the Way to Inclusion, an NACAC-sponsored conference focused on multicultural recruitment and campus inclusion. Additionally, she is on the board of directors for Colleges That Change Lives, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing higher education access. Wheeler holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in developmental and adult education from Texas State University.
