On Saturday, the Jefferson County Child Development Council (JCCDC) hosted its inaugural Sneaker's Ball at Woodrow Hall, 5504 1st Avenue, North, Birmingham, celebrating the inclusion of children with disabilities. Founded in 1965, the Early Head Start Family Child Care currently supports 36 eligible children and their families, standing as a pioneering entity dedicated to advancing the development of low-income children.“JCCDC aimed to honor the children who have significantly influenced our program, recognizing the incredible nature of our students who benefit from high-quality services,” remarked Earlene Reynolds, Executive Director of JCCDC. "This year's ball emphasized exceptional children with diverse abilities, emphasizing our shared humanity." The JCCDC emphasizes cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development across six learning areas. “We annually assist around 32 families, empowering them towards self-sufficiency and advocacy,” Reynolds added.
