The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Northern Ohio is teaming up with over 25 statewide, regional, and national stakeholders to help advance Black maternal health equity during Black Maternal Health Week (created by Black Mamas Matter Alliance in 2018) through its first Black Maternal Health Equity Summit (BMHES). The summit will take place Sunday, April 14, from noon to 4 p.m. in Cleveland State University’s Glasscock Ballroom (2121 Euclid Avenue). The BMHES is a half-day convening of stakeholders from diverse industries whose formal and informal education, lived and work experience will help inform research questions and evidence-based solutions to advance health equity for Black mothers, and consequently, all mothers. Held at Cleveland State University’s Student Center Glasscock Ballroom, award-winning historian, public speaker, and author, Deirdre Cooper Owens, PhD, will deliver a keynote address to set the stage where we will hear stories from local mothers, and research and policy updates, challenges, and opportunities. Participants will have an opportunity to apply their learnings and shared insights during action tables. Teams will produce a Roadmap to Impact (from Washington University in St. Louis’ Translational Science Benefits Model Toolkit) and gain eligibility to apply for research funding opportunities (e.g., CTSC Voucher Program)....
