Braun Has Enacted Executive Orders for Rare Earth Recovery and Efficient Water Management

Governor Mike Braun has enacted two significant executive orders aimed at enhancing Indiana’s recovery of rare earth elements from coal byproducts and devising an extensive water resource management strategy.Executive Order 25-62 seeks to extract rare earth elements and critical minerals from the state's coal reserves, crucial for producing contemporary technologies like smartphones and electric vehicles. This initiative also establishes the Indiana Rare Earth Recovery Council to collaborate with industry and academia.Meanwhile, Executive Order 25-63 directs an assessment of water resources to identify regional distribution disparities and develop a transparent planning framework.
