Verónica Melesse Vergara, SC24 Inclusivity ChairWhen I first stepped into the world of High Performance Computing (HPC), I didn’t see many faces that looked like mine. As a Latina and international student from Ecuador, I faced challenges accessing opportunities in computing. These obstacles fueled my determination to carve out a place not just for myself, but for others facing similar barriers.Today, I am the Inclusivity Chair for SC24, an international conference showcasing the cutting-edge of supercomputing technology. It’s a hotbed of opportunities for people of all backgrounds. In my role, I am channeling my experiences in this arena into a program that expands the reach of these opportunities into underserved communities. In the lead-up to this November’s& SC24 conference in Atlanta, we’ve launched& CommUNITY@SC24& to bring cutting-edge opportunities to diverse IT professionals in Atlanta and surrounding areas.
