Cabinet Approves Salary Agreement with Trade Union Federation

Cabinet has approved the agreement reached between the Government Negotiating Team (GNT) and the Saint Lucia Trade Union Federation (TUF) for a 13 per cent pay increase for public sector workers.
But the government has acknowledged that negotiations continue with other unions and staff associations.
Under the terms of the agreement, public sector workers represented by six affiliates that are signatories to the negotiations protocol will receive salary increases of six per cent for the 2022–2025 period and seven per cent for 2025–2028. Additionally, the back pay owed to workers will be tax-free and is scheduled for disbursement next month.
A statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday said Cabinet had approved the deal reached by the GNT and the TUF on behalf of the Saint Lucia Civil Service Association, Saint Lucia Fire Service Association, Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association, Saint Lucia Nurses Association, Saint Lucia Teachers Union, and the Vieux Fort Dock and General Workers Union.
It said the six associations and unions had endorsed the decisions, in principle, reached at a December 12, 2024 meeting.
