CAIR Responds Strongly to Marco Rubio's Controversial Comments on Right-Wing Radio

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has publicly condemned Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his remarks made on August 12 during Sid Rosenberg's right-wing radio show, known for its racist and biased rhetoric. CAIR criticized Rubio for seemingly endorsing the potential designation of their organization as a terrorist entity by the U.S. government. They expressed their discontent through a letter, urging Rubio to confirm that federal powers would not target American Muslim entities, warning him that unfounded threats wouldn't impede their ongoing efforts.Despite Rubio’s failure to mention CAIR, his comments implied a willingness to misuse federal authority. CAIR, founded in 1994, asserted that it operates solely as a non-profit advocacy group, legally compliant and independent of any foreign affiliations. They highlighted that the fear of increasing civic engagement among American Muslims fuels the persistent targeting they face.
