On the concluding day of his official visit to Saint Lucia, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized the critical impact of education in combating poverty, honoring Nobel laureate Sir Arthur Lewis at the college named after him. "Education is the most powerful tool in the fight against poverty," Tinubu stated, addressing an engaged audience at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) on Tuesday.
The event welcomed 25 students present and others participating online, alongside faculty, government representatives, and distinguished guests, marking a reflection on the intertwined academic heritages of Nigeria and Saint Lucia. Notable speakers included Saint Lucia’s Education Minister Shawn Edward and SALCC Vice Principal Dr. Winston Phulgence, who compared contributions to global knowledge from both nations.
Tinubu suggested a collaborative framework for scholarly research and innovation during his earlier address to the House of Assembly.
