Cecilia Taylor: Honoring African Dance Heritage at San Francisco State University

In 2020, Cecilia Taylor became the first Black woman to serve as mayor of Menlo Park. Throughout her two terms, she championed marginalized communities, engaging with the City Council and the San Mateo County Housing Authority. Taylor established Belle Haven Action to empower her neighborhood, highlighting her dedication to preserving Black culture. A graduate of San Francisco State University, she attributes her leadership resilience to African dance, advocating for self-care among Black women leaders. Taylor inspires community participation and cultural connection through her initiatives.
