The Crossroads of America Council, BSA recognized outstanding community and scouting leaders at their 40th Annual Character in Action Awards Dinner on April 6.
The event was held at the JW Marriott. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and First Lady Janet Holcomb were presented with the Thomas W. Moses Good Scout Award.
Other honorees included Matthew Best, who was the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award recipient, and Carolene Mays, who received the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award.
The dinner also featured the recognition of the 2024 Silver Beaver class and this year’s Eagle Scout class.
Eric and Janet Holcomb, governor and first lady of Indiana, received the Thomas W. Moses Good Scout Award. Named after Moses for his work as a civic leader, passionate statesman, military veteran and successful businessman, the award is presented each year to individuals who help others without seeking reward. &
Carolene Mays, founder and president of Black Leadership and Legacies, Inc., was honored with the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award, named for Young’s unselfish acts of service to disadvantaged youth.&
