Amid national discussions that risk undermining diversity and equity initiatives, Chicago's Black business sector is proactively advancing and convening to strategize. On Monday, June 23, the Business Leadership Council (BLC) will orchestrate a roundtable titled “The State of Chicago’s Black Business Community, Available Resources and Growth Opportunities.” This event, in collaboration with the City of Chicago and Mayor Brandon Johnson, will occur at RPM Events, located at 317 N. Clark St., with networking commencing at 5:30 p.m. and the panel starting at 6:00 p.m. This dialogue is timely, as federal actions aiming to curtail diversity and equity programs raise serious concerns among Black entrepreneurs regarding potential economic setbacks. Featured speakers include Ciere Boatright, Sharla Roberts, and Lotika Pai, with Keiana Barrett, CEO of BLC, moderating. The objective is to address the challenges confronting Black-owned businesses, link entrepreneurs with essential resources, and inspire innovative growth strategies in an unpredictable landscape. Founded to elevate Chicago's Black business voice, BLC connects influential leaders across corporate and civic sectors.
