NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The ‘Minding My Black Owned Business’ expo has returned to Central Arkansas, and this year, it’s more expansive than ever as entrepreneurship flourishes. “Our inaugural event saw 50 vendors, and our largest had 125. This year, we welcomed 60 vendors and are still witnessing growth. We even had to decline vendors due to space limitations,” remarked Gabrielle Wilkerson, the initiative's founder. This challenge reflects the success of her vision to create a platform for Black entrepreneurs. “Our mission focuses on linking Black-owned businesses to the community through avenues like economic development, mental wellness, and youth engagement. Progress begins with each enterprise,” Wilkerson declared. Sunday’s expo also showcased live entertainment and local food vendors. Prior to its opening, participants engaged in panels aimed at enriching their business strategies. Kesha Letoya-Glass, owner of Kollection, noted that mingling and showcasing offerings unites people. “When we come together, it’s beneficial for everyone,” she affirmed. Aliyah Gilmore, founder of Give More Love to Birth, concurred, stating, “Investing in our community is a form of self-love.” Wilkerson aspires for the event to nurture and impact future generations positively.
