Contributed Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. and boasts a storied legacy of sisterhood and service. The sorority has more than 350 thousand initiated members and more than a thousand chapters around the world.& Sigma Omega is the local Greater Cincinnati chapter and this year, is celebrating 100 years of service in the Greater Cincinnati area. Cincinnati’s history is rich with tales of dedicated service and leadership embodied by the Sigma Omega members. Notable figures such as Marian Spencer, Mamie Earl Sells, Iva Brown, Virginia Coffey, Roberta Wooten, Margaret Davis Bowen, and Laura Fife Lovelace have left an indelible mark on the fabric of Cincinnati in politics, education and the culture of our area and beyond. Sigma Omega is honored to present the Centennial History Exhibit Celebrating 100 Years of Sisterhood and Service in Greater Cincinnati at the newly renovated Walnut Hills Branch Library 2533 Kemper Lane. The exhibit highlights the contributions of Sigma Omega members over the years. The exhibit runs from February 15 through March 15, 2024 during Black History and Women’s History months.
