Cincinnati Police Officer Exonerated in Deadly Ryan Hinton Shooting

Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich disclosed that the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ryan Hinton by a Cincinnati police officer on May 1 will not proceed to a grand jury, and no criminal charges will be filed against the officer involved. Pillich affirmed that the officer acted within legal and justified parameters during the incident. Reports indicate that officers discovered Hinton alongside three others in a stolen 2021 Kia Telluride, located via GPS in an apartment parking lot in East Price Hill. As the suspects fled on foot, Hinton stumbled, dropping what appeared to be a firearm. Video evidence shows him picking up the gun while continuing to evade capture. During the pursuit, Officer A confronted Hinton, reportedly fearing for his life, subsequently firing multiple rounds at the young man. Hinton's family maintains he was not aiming the weapon. Attorney Fanon Rucker emphasized the quest for justice is ongoing and highlighted concerns regarding the integrity of the involved officers. Pillich expressed certainty in her decision, emphasizing a deliberate evaluation of the evidence.
