The City of Sacramento's Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) is enhancing its complimentary financial counseling and coaching services, specifically aimed at helping residents safeguard their income, assets, and provide for their loved ones through legacy planning. In collaboration with the national nonprofit Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund), Sacramento FEC now provides personalized support in drafting wills, designating beneficiaries, and preparing vital documents like powers of attorney. “Every resident in Sacramento deserves the assurance that comes from planning ahead,” stated Amy Williamson, the City’s Financial Empowerment Manager. Research indicates that a significant proportion of Americans hold valuable assets but around 70% lack the necessary provisions for asset protection. This initiative seeks to make legacy planning more accessible, particularly for those without traditional resources. Residents can arrange a complimentary session with certified counselors by visiting www.cityofsacramento.org/FEC or contacting 916-808-4927. Services are available in English and Spanish, with additional language support offered.
