Claudia Schrader Becomes York College's First Female President: A New Era for New York

Claudia Schrader has been officially named the eighth president of York College in Queens, New York, following a four-month interim term. A member of the City University of New York System, York College educates nearly 6,000 undergraduates, with African Americans comprising 40%. Dr. Schrader brings over 20 years of experience in CUNY, including her groundbreaking role as the first Black president of Kingsborough Community College. She obtained her bachelor's from Rutgers and possesses several advanced degrees from Columbia University's Teachers College.
