On Friday night, one matchup will commence at 8 p.m. ET, and Saturday will feature three additional games: one in the afternoon and two later in the day. All initial-round contests will be hosted at campus venues, granting an advantage to the higher seeds. The leading four teams will receive byes, progressing directly to the quarterfinals, held at the prestigious New Year's Six bowl games.
The Cotton Bowl will be the site for the first quarterfinal on December 31, followed by the Orange, Rose, and Sugar Bowls on January 1.
