A fire chief from Long Island, New York, has been suspended following alarming cellphone footage that shows him directing profanities at a young Black girl while she was secured to a gurney. The distressed child, crying and repeating, “I don’t want to go!” was met with the chief's harsh retorts, including, “Shut your mouth!” This incident reportedly involved North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company Fire Chief Peter Alt. The company stated that Alt's actions do not align with their departmental values and that an investigation into the controversial video is underway. The child's grandmother expressed outrage, stating that a mere suspension is insufficient, calling for his termination instead. Notably, locals shared that prior encounters with emergency services had not been as severe, emphasizing that such unprofessional behavior cannot be tolerated.
