Delaware State University, a historically Black educational institution, has recently established a new master of education degree program in educational leadership in adult and higher education.
Set to launch in fall 2025, the new graduate program aims to prepare early-career postsecondary professionals for career advancement within higher education. The exclusively online curriculum will focus on four key competencies: diversity, adult and college student development, assessment, and student success.
Notably, the master’s degree program will offer a direct pathway into the HBCU’s existing doctoral program in educational leadership in higher education. This provides the opportunity for students to earn both degrees in just five years.
“We are confident that this program will create accessible pathways for reaching students both nationally and internationally, contributing to the diversification of the higher education profession,” said Tina Mitchell, director of graduate education programs at Delaware State. “It provides valuable opportunities to establish direct connections with other HBCUs and Minority Serving Institutions in the preparation of future higher education professionals.”
