Delta Air Lines: cancellations and delays could persist through the weekend

MIAMI — Friday afternoon, Delta Air Lines admits cancellations due to an outage related to Microsoft information technology systems could last through the weekend. Delta acknowledged more than 1,200 Delta mainline and Delta Connection flights were canceled Friday due to a “vendor technology” issue.“CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts,” Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz wrote on X Friday morning. “This is not a security incident or cyberattack.”Before 8:00 AM Friday, Delta released a statement. It reads in part, “Delta has resumed some flight departures after a vendor technology issue impacted several airlines and businesses around the world.” That issue necessitated a pause in Delta’s global flight schedule this morning while it was addressed. Additional delays may take place. Currently, departing flights out of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport are facing delays averaging 56 minutes and decreasing, according to FlightAware.
