Tragic Discovery: Delta State University Student Demartravion “Trey” Reed Found Deceased in Campus Tree

Recent events at Delta State University have caused deep concern within the community. Tragically, Demartravion “Trey” Reed, a Black student, was discovered deceased, hanging from a tree on campus. The circumstances surrounding his passing are deeply troubling, leaving friends and family grappling with immense grief. On September 15, university officials confirmed Trey’s body was found near the pickleball courts shortly after 7 a.m. Director of Public Safety Mike Peeler shared that authorities are investigating the incident, yet many questions remain unanswered. Social media has been rife with speculation that Reed suffered severe injuries, including two broken legs, contradicting earlier reports. Nonetheless, Peeler emphasized that no evidence suggests foul play, stressing that campus safety remains intact. The Bolivar County Coroner’s Office stated that Reed displayed no signs of physical trauma consistent with an assault.
