During the Thanksgiving holiday, DeSoto ISD is inviting all K–8 students to engage in a district-wide initiative dubbed the “Gobble Up Goals” i-Ready Reading Challenge, aimed at enhancing literacy skills and ensuring students remain academically focused during their time off. Spearheaded by Chief Academic Officer Stephanie McCloud, this enjoyable reading challenge runs from November 24 to November 28, allowing students to participate from home while monitoring their progress through the i-Ready platform.Participants are expected to dedicate 45 minutes daily to i-Ready Reading sessions, achieving a minimum accuracy rate of 80% in their lessons. This challenge not only maintains academic engagement but also helps students improve fluency and comprehension, ensuring they are prepared for new learning upon their return.To foster school spirit, each campus will recognize classes with the highest total minutes and impressive participation. Such initiatives align with DeSoto ISD’s goal of boosting reading proficiency critical for overall academic success.
