On May 1, the Detroit Chamber of Commerce revealed its plans for a mayoral debate at this month’s Mackinac Policy Conference, but initially withheld candidate names. Subsequently, they announced five participants: City Council President Mary Sheffield, City Councilman Fred Durhal III, former Police Chief James Craig, ex-Council President Saunteel Jenkins, and Pastor Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr. Notably absent were Joel Haashiim, Todd Perkins, Jonathan Barlow, and Dean Evans, despite their petitions for the Aug. 5 primary. The conference runs May 27-30, with further debate details yet to be shared.
