The 3rd Annual Detroit Is Different Collard Green Cook-Off will take place at the Samaritan Center’s Wellness Center Gym, located at 5555 Conner St., Detroit, MI 48213, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2 to 6 p.m.Embracing the theme “Bridging Detroit Through Culture and Cuisine,” this year's event celebrates the city's notable history of urban agriculture, cherished family recipes, and the role of food in cultural connection. This gathering transcends mere taste; it fosters storytelling, celebrates traditions, and strengthens community ties through a dish central to Black Detroit kitchens.Entry is free, with each attendee receiving one complimentary tasting ticket, and the opportunity to purchase additional ones for $2. Each ticket includes a voting chip, empowering guests to help crown the Collard Green Cook-Off Champion.
