DJ Talib Kweli, acclaimed hip-hop artist, to perform free show at Cincinnati Art Museum

Hip-hop fans should clear their calendars, because an internationally known artist is performing a free show in Mount Adams this week. DJ Talib Kweli will take the mic Friday evening at Cincinnati Art Museum for a free concert open to the public. It will take place on Cincinnati Art Museum’s front parking lot, rain or shine. The Brooklyn-based emcee rose to prominence in the late 1990s and has been praised by critics for his socially and politically insightful lyrics and rhythmically complex producing style. In addition to his later solo work, he has also recognized for his partnership with fellow Brooklyn rapper Mos Def and Cincinnati-native producer Hi-Tek in hip-hop group, Black Star. He also worked as a duo with Hi-Tek in the group Reflection Eternal. The show, part of the museum’s Art After Dark series, coincides with another celebration of hip-hop: it’s final week of of the exhibition, “The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century.” The exhibition is on view through Sunday, Sept. 29.
