Formerly a White House aide, Katie now works for Musk and urged Dudek to assert that a staggering 40 percent of calls to the SSA's customer service line were fraudulent. This directive took place during a phone conversation on April 1. Despite attempts from agency staff to clarify this figure in an internal memo on the same day, Katie insisted, “Do not contradict the president.” The reported 40 percent figure appears to be a misinterpretation, with officials stating that only 25 to 30 percent of calls regarding direct deposit changes may involve potential fraud.
