The Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia released a disturbing dashcam video depicting the moment Officer Jalin Phillips unintentionally ran over 62-year-old Trina Jones, who had already been involved in a hit-and-run incident. On September 23, Phillips responded to a report where a black Mercedes had hit Jones and fled the scene. The footage shows Phillips approaching the intersection, where Jones’ form is seen on the road, and tragically, he drives over her.Despite the initial collision not being life-threatening, according to attorneys for Jones’ family, her situation worsened after she was struck by the police vehicle. Medics performed life-saving measures, but Jones later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Officer Phillips, driving at 14 to 17 mph, has not been charged and is currently on restricted duty as investigations continue. Police Chief Kevin Davis expressed concern for both the grieving family and the officer's emotional state.
