An interracial couple, Christine Barassi-Jackson and Quentin Jackson, has faced significant challenges in their quest to construct a home in Bristol, Wisconsin. They purchased a 5-acre plot in 2018 with plans for a log cabin and amenities for their sons. However, local officials have repeatedly resisted their efforts, citing wetland regulations. Despite securing permissions from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the village administrator, Randy Kerkman, enforced local ordinances, asserting authority over their development.The couple has faced harassment from neighbors, with racial undertones evident in their interactions. Following escalating tensions, the village filed a lawsuit claiming the Jacksons' construction aggravated flooding issues for nearby residents, allegedly motivated by racial bias rather than legitimate concerns.As ongoing litigation unfolds, the couple seeks justice and the opportunity to build the life they envisioned.
