Dr. Karen Bankston Makes Big Splash Being Appointed New Chair of the Council on Aging Board

Dr. Karen Jones Bankston has been appointed as the chairperson of the Council on Aging’s (COA) Board of Trustees. Bankston, a board member since 2020 representing Hamilton County, previously held the vice chair role and stepped into her new position in April. Her extensive background as a leadership consultant, Professor Emerita, and former hospital executive equips her well for this leadership role. Notably, she has served as the Associate Dean at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing and held significant executive positions with the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati and the Drake Center. In recognition of her community contributions, she received the 2024 Urban League of Greater Cincinnati’s Glorifying the Lions award. The Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio is a nonprofit that strives to improve the quality of life for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers. COA offers various services designed to promote independence, dignity, and well-being across Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, and Warren counties.
