This weekend, Atlanta’s streets are buzzing as ELEVATE 2025: Rooted & Rising begins its three-day celebration, converting local neighborhoods into vibrant open-air galleries. Kicking off on Friday, Oct. 10, this public art festival spans areas including the West End, Sweet Auburn, Castleberry Hill, and South Downtown. It aims to redefine cultural preservation as a component of public health, showcasing music, visual arts, storytelling, and fashion under the theme “Rooted & Rising,” which celebrates Atlanta’s artistic heritage while fostering emerging talents.Adriane V. Jefferson, the City of Atlanta’s Director of Cultural Affairs, emphasizes that this festival serves as both homage and rallying cry to cultivate cultural stewards. The inaugural night, themed “Steele Fresh,” was curated by local artist Courtney Brooks, spotlighting “Black girl magic” with a diverse display of artistic expressions.The weekend continues with “Culture Comb Out” on Saturday and “Welcome to the West Side” on Sunday, promoting community engagement and pride throughout Atlanta’s rich cultural landscape.
