Authorities have detained Jermaine Donald’s grandmother, Connie Weeden, for allegedly financially supporting him while he evaded capture following his escape from a New Orleans prison. Reports indicate that Weeden utilized a mobile application to communicate with and send money to Donald. Consequently, she faces a felony charge of accessory after the fact. According to State Police, evidence reveals she interacted with him before and after the May 16 escape. Surveillance footage captured inmates dismantling a sliding door around 4 a.m. while a guard momentarily left. Weeden marks the third civilian arrested in this escape, joining Cortnie Harris and Corvanntay Baptiste, who face charges for assisting other escapees. State police assert that harboring fugitives jeopardizes community safety and will not be overlooked.
