Irondale resident Jacob Isdell showcased his Hyundai Ioniq 5 at Saturday's electric vehicle (EV) showcase at The Market at Pepper Place. Isdell purchased his EV in June and has been pleasantly surprised by the substantial savings from charging at home or his workplace instead of frequenting gas stations. “Many overlook the cost-effectiveness of EVs,” he noted. “It's simply more economical than gasoline.” The event featured a diverse array of EVs, including SUVs and larger pickup trucks, with members from the Birmingham Chapter of Drive Electric Alabama engaging with attendees keen to learn about EV expenses, technology, range, and charging options. Returning to previous EV showcases at Pepper Place informed Isdell's electric vehicle choice, revealing another key advantage. “It's all about immediate power,” he explained, highlighting the consistent torque at varying speeds. The showcase, attended by over two dozen EV owners with models from top manufacturers, celebrated National Drive Electric Month, supported by Drive Electric Alabama.
