MIAMI, FL – The Family Action Network Movement (FANM) vehemently denounces the Trump administration’s resolution to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti, set to take effect on September 2, 2025. This decision endangers the well-being of over half a million Haitians who have built lives in the U.S., forcing their return to a nation in turmoil. “This cruel and unjust choice blatantly disregards Haiti’s dire and deteriorating conditions,” asserted FANM Political Director Paul Christian Namphy. “Haiti is grappling with a disastrous humanitarian emergency characterized by rampant gang violence, political chaos, and widespread hunger. Forcing people back is not merely reckless—it is inhumane.” Although the Department of Homeland Security claims improvements, the U.S. State Department warns against travel due to extreme criminal activity. Currently, 5.7 million Haitians are acutely hungry as gangs dominate Port-au-Prince. “This administration’s actions reveal an alarming trend of targeting Black and immigrant communities,” added Rachel Descollines, FANM’s Social Justice Organizer. FANM urgently implores congressional and White House intervention to safeguard Haitian TPS beneficiaries.
