Final Call’s editor-in-chief, Naba’a Muhammad, has passed away, as reported by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), a group to which the publication belongs. On June 7, NNPA President Benjamin F. Chavis Jr. shared the news of Muhammad's death, which occurred the evening prior. “We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of Naba’a Muhammad, a notable figure in journalism,” Chavis expressed. Since its inception in 1979 in Minister Louis Farrakhan's South Chicago residence, The Final Call has served as the Nation of Islam’s primary media outlet, presenting an uncompromising viewpoint on various issues under Muhammad's leadership since 2009. Chavis acknowledged Muhammad’s role as a steadfast voice for the Black Press. Hailing from Baltimore, Muhammad’s career spanned nearly four decades, founded Straight Words Media, and actively engaged in critical social issues. His contributions also included significant coverage of national disturbances and speaking at diverse venues from prestigious conferences to local communities. His legacy continues through influential works, including his 2018 publication.
