Segawa made these comments during an interview with Spark TV, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to combat piracy in the country.
“They shouldn’t be jailed. They need to be released and asked to attain legal rights from the movie owners of selling those movies. But they should stop doing that business coz its illegally against our works. We need a round table talk between film producers and marketers, and we welcome them,” Segawa stated, highlighting the importance of finding alternative solutions rather than resorting to punitive measures.
Piracy remains a significant challenge for the Ugandan film industry, with illegal distribution and sale of movies depriving creators of their rightful earnings. Segawa’s call for dialogue reflects a growing recognition within the industry of the need to address this issue through collaborative efforts.
The proposal for a round table discussion between film producers and marketers signifies a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue aimed at finding solutions that benefit all parties involved....
