In an announcement on Thursday afternoon, President Museveni confirmed that the First Lady, Janet Kataha Museveni, is currently battling COVID-19. The revelation came through an official document, where the President disclosed that Mrs. Museveni is now in isolation as she navigates through the challenges posed by the virus. President Museveni detailed the onset of symptoms, stating that the First Lady began feeling unwell on Christmas day after a family lunch. Despite an initial negative result from a Rapid Corona test, a subsequent PCR test from Mbarara confirmed her positive status. Janet Museveni reportedly experiences weakness, constant headaches, and a sore throat, symptoms commonly associated with the virus. “In the meantime, on Christmas day, after a family lunch, Maama started feeling kukarakaatwa (sandy feeling) in the throat. We did a Rapid Corona test, which was negative. However, we sent another sample to Mbarara for a PCR test and it came back Positive,” Museveni said.
