Fix It!’ Nancy Charles Urges Social Media Campaign Highlighting Poor Roads

In a fiery speech at a recent opposition United Workers Party (UWP) event, the party’s Mobilisation Officer launched a scathing attack on the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) government over the poor state of many of the country’s roads.
Addressing the UWP’s Sunday Live on Facebook, Charles disclosed that a female employee of a statutory body took to social media to highlight the poor state of roads in her constituency and the damage it was causing to vehicles.
However, the UWP official said the Chief Executive Officer of the entity ordered the woman to take down the post since it was causing embarrassment to Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre and Infrastructure Minister Stephenson King.
Nevertheless, Charles urged the woman to post her story again.
“Let the people talk. If they identify a problem, fix it,” Charles declared.
‘I am putting a challenge to all of you here – all of you who are listening. When you go home tomorrow, take pictures of the potholes in your constituency. Take pictures of the broken bridges in your constituency,” the UWP official urged.
Earlier this year, the Prime Minister had billed the 2024-2025 Budget as the Year of Infrastructure.
