Flojaune Cofer headed to Nov. election, Her Opponent Has Yet To Be Decided

Epidemiologist and political newcomer Flojaune Cofer is headed to the Nov. election to become Sacramento’s next mayor.
The other contenders,& Assemblymember Kevin McCarty, former state Sen. Richard Pan and former city council member Steve Hansen, are separated by merely 450 votes with McCarty in second place ahead of Pan by about 200 votes.
As of Tuesday March 19, the county has less than 7,000 ballots to count and an estimated 2,107 of those are in the city, according to data acquired by The OBSERVER.
Hansen conceded earlier today in a statement on X.
“The latest results were just released – it was so close, but unfortunately we will not be advancing to the run off. While the results released today were not what we hoped, it is not the end of our work fighting for a better Sacramento. Thank you for believing in me and my vision for what our city could be,” Hansen said.
Cofer leads by more than 7,000 votes over any other candidate making it a mathematical certainty she will face Pan or McCarty in November.
