Forsyth County Board of Commissioners trying out new meeting schedule

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will begin trying out a new meeting schedule this week.  During a special meeting held last month, the board of commissioners voted 4-3 on a new meeting schedule that  began Monday, Jan. 13. With the new schedule, briefings will be held on Mondays at 2 p.m., followed by 2 p.m. meetings on Thursdays, twice a month, with the exception of one quarterly evening meeting held at 6 p.m. After three months, commissioners will assess the new schedule to see if they want to make changes. Before the board of commissioners voted to make changes, briefings, where agenda items are discussed in more detail; and meetings, where agenda items are briefly discussed and voted on, were both held every Thursday. While speaking with The Chronicle last week about changes, board chair Don Martin said he supports the changes. The board had a trial run of the changes over the holidays.  “I actually liked it a lot because you’re doing briefing matters on a Monday, then you’re back on Thursday to deal with it, so everything is still kinda fresh and current,” Martin said.  Martin mentioned they decided to add an evening meeting every quarter to...
